Ukrainian Eggs - "Pysanky" - by Helena artist JoLee Hawkins are now available just in time for Easter. Ukrainian Egg Decorating has been handed down through generations of the Ukrainian people. Pysanky is a wax relief process. Designs are "waxed" (beeswax) with the kistky tool onto a blown egg. The egg is dyed several times after each layer of wax - going from light colored dyes to darker ones. When the designs waxing and dying layers are complete, the wax is melted, wiped from the egg and then varnished. Stop by and see the wide assortment of designs, colors and patterns.
